Terminology
a) Sheath; strand groups (usually 32, 40, 48 strands)
b) Core; inner structure of strands (from 6 to 16 strands; can be more or less)
c) Strand; thread groups (usually 1 or 2 thread groups crossed with other strands, usually one is crossed under another one, or another two)
d) Yarn; fibre group (twisted fibres)
e) Fibres; filament groups
f) Filament; basic textile unit = 1 piece

Determining rope age
If needed, its possible to cut the ends of the rope and determine the production year of the rope, according to the colour. The colour key marks the year of production (for LANEX products only):
1995 yellow
1996 red
1997 red/yellow
1998 blue/yellow
1999 green/yellow
2000 red/yellow
2001 red/blue
2002 red/green
2003 red/black
2004 green
2005 blue
