Today six of us and too much luggage cramped into our compact 10 seater van for the day long drive towards Mt. Yala. On the way we stopped in Kangding to pick-up our climbing permit from the Ganzi Prefecture Mountaineering Association (GMA). At 3:30PM the director of the GMA put the official red stamp on our permit. GORE-AAIC Climbing Team’s attempt of Mt. Yala was now official.

  We drove up and out of Kangding in lifted spirits. We gradually rose above the oppressive cloud layer to pristine mountain meadows, Tibetan villages, crisp air, and blue skis. Innocent, whisky clouds stretched from horizon to horizon. As we drove past the Tagong grasslands, Mt. Yala suddenly burst into view. It looked so near, just beyond the rolling foothills of Tagong. Mt Yala’s summit pyramid basked in the rays of the setting sun, its statelymass illuminated a vivid glow, attracting the attention of all those in the valley.

  As we continued onto the small township of Bamei we were treated to a stunning sunset. TOMOrrow we continue the drive to Mt. Yala and then hike to our hot spring camp. From here we will explore the route to the summit. If the weather continues to hold for the next week, we will be truly blessed.

　　10月20日，早晨9点45分从成都出发，因为出发时间比较晚，所以我们一路上车开的比较快，午饭都是到康定后利用到甘孜州登协办手续的时候顺便吃的，简单的午饭后于15点45分又上路。直接向今天的目的地八美进发，出了康定后景色越来越漂亮，彩林相比国庆的时候简直不可同日而语，但是折多山以后的道路状况不太好，使车行的速度受到影响，晚上19点到八美，安排好住宿吃过晚饭以后发出这篇报道。
