Despite this statement he once again returned to Everest in 1999 and made a second ascent together with Renata.

During spring 2000, Goran teamed up with Ola Skinnarmo to try reaching the North Pole by ski. Half way, Goran makes a mistake and his thumb get a serious frost-bite. After a short discussion it"s decided that Ola continues while Goran will be evacuated by a helicopter. He returned saftely home and his thumb is now healed. The thumb"s still there, and so also the North Pole. Perhaps he will give it another try in 2001. Ola made it to the pole and become the first Swede to travel to the North Pole by ski.

Gorans next *big* project is to sail alone to the Antrctica, cross the continent and sail home again. In a TV interview, Goran said he actually is considering skip the sailing and row all the way from Sweden. If he sets a record it should be hard to copy or repeat. Estimated start around year 2004.
